this is like the third time it redirects me back to captcha after passing it
i hate this so much already. i want to give you my fucking money, why are you making this so complicated
... turned out their free x86 have 50mbps connectivity speed cap, making them utterly useless for being proxies. and im yet to snipe an arm instance despite having a script that attempts getting one like every minute... (free arm instances have like 3gbps link, i thought free x86 would be the same...)

truly a masterpiece ngl
seriously tho, old porter was so much better. it really feels like when he became more popular he started hanging out with pop artists like taylor swift, which made him ashamed of his niche autistic music or smth
i removed my free oracle arm instance because i wanted to reduce its disk size (so i can create free x86 instances), and now i cant create it back because "Out of host capacity" :neocat_cry:
it was NOT fun learning that i had to put `dsmode: local` into metadata yaml from a random github gist (without it os just straight up ignored the network configuration)
industry standard with dogshit docs, hell yeah, love that
nixos is still the best hypervisor
...except i spent like 3 hours figuring out cloud-init stuff, but whatever, it becomes really easy once you have enough abstraction layers in your flake :>
i wrote about this somewhere in replies to mary, but i want to somewhat reiterate on why i enjoy telegram as a social platform so much...
not having a single timeline and instead having personal channels is actually really nice in many regards:
- there's a global limit on channels (which is also shared with chats), so subscribing to someone on tg means much more than subscribing to someone on fedi/twi/etc, since you are giving that person 1/100th (iirc?) of your time basically
- replies to others are not visible in the channel (as long as it's not a cross-chat reply, similar to a renote). this is honestly so huge, seeing people i follow in random discussions on timeline makes me want to check them out and distracts so much
- message format somewhat promotes conciseness and less frequent and more thoughtful posting. dgmw, shitpost channels with >100-200 posts/day 100% exist and have their niche, but its a much less frequent occurrence
- channels can have multiple admins. joint channels with s/o or friend group or anyone really. with post signatures, too. its a very unique experience, idk why and i cant really explain it, but again it feels much more personal and real...
- and once again, effortlessly catching up exactly where you dropped off, in your own pace
"personal" and "real" are things that i miss the most probably. on fedi/twi/etc i often not fully realize that other people on here are actual living breathing people. and it often dazzles me when someone interacts back. and on tg i get that much more rarely. idk why.
i follow too many people, and i really want to continue because most of them post cool stuff occasionally, but at this point catching up with everything takes more time than I can afford... esp across different platforms...
im slowly starting to realize that maybe algorithmic timelines are not that bad as long as they aren't tuned to maximize retention and ad revenue...
i either need to funnel everything to one place and probably patch in some extensive heuristic to hide posts, or get off social platforms entirely... neither of which is ideal tbh, ive had enough of isolating myself...
it feels so weird every time someone looks up to me
like
im literally a stupid dumbass and there are so many people so much cooler than me, what do you mean
ive been so lazy lately holy shit
all ive been doing past few days is like
- play some mania
- play some wuwa
- doomscroll/chat
- do the bare minimum of work
- sleep
this cant continue i need to get back on the grind
@[email protected] does exactly the same things i use in apple watch (notifications, time, heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking) for a fraction of price and doesn't require charging as often
@[email protected] that's not entirely true. e.g. widevine l3 in browsers is entirely user-level, yet some browsers still use system apis to mark the content as "invisible when recording"
e.g. you can open https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm in chrome and firefox and try screenshotting the video in both of them.
at least on mac, firefox happily lets you screenshot whatever.
and if that's the case on windows as well – i'm pretty sure it will be recorded by recall too :D
does pride month like even work? so far ive only seen:
- companies trying to make money by supposedly being ally
- people being even more homo/transphobic than usual
- people who just don't give a slightest fuck (most of them, actually)
like. gay people are gay every day. not one month in a year. what is even the point of a *pride month*...
im so used to queerness on fedi and in my friends circle that seeing most of twitter being cishet feels weird for some reason
i literally forgot they existed
yay my first broken prod
i forgot to check everything works as soon as it deployed yesterday, and woke up today to our frontlead reverting the deployment bc our backend dev forgot to deploy or something
kinda surprised it hadn't happened before. and i also have a feeling that my adhd is getting worse every day. fuck im so tired of this.
@[email protected] osu is really cool in this regard
one of the rules to the map being ranked is that if the song is <4m long it must include easy/normal diffs, or something along those lines
though what worries me more is that they somehow have 400mb of analytic logs even though i very rarely use discord :neocat_googly_shocked:
despite the filename it actually has events back from 2016, so it's 400mb for 7.5 years of not-so-active usage, but still that's a fuckton of data holy shit
they log fucking everything
fucking `user_settings_keybind_updated`, `keyboard_shortcut_used` and `ack_messages`
it's honestly scary
@[email protected] :freeman_this:
initially just followed almost everyone and it was kinda fun seeing infinite shitstorm of randomposting
but like
it gets boring and repetitive (and also overwhelming?) over time,,,,,
i miss being able to scroll to the last post i remember reading in home timeline
though tbh it might be a design flaw in the timelines as a concept in general
i really like how in telegram instead of there being an infinite wall of posts - there are instead channels with a visible unread counter. it makes following people much more digestible and manageable somehow...

@[email protected] it was a joke mostly, but like
i couldn't get myself to do anything at work because of that silly little project 🙃
and i have a deadline in like 2 days so i guess i'll be working through the night
